Hot Weather Pond Update
Posted on Sep 9th, 2013

We see it this time of year right before the weather changes to much cooler in the fall.  This single celled algae may have a septic smell to it.

At this time of year, the water temperatures are warm, allowing for this algae to thrive in your high nutrient ponds.  Warm to hot water temps do not allow oxygen to reach high levels.
Be aware that fish kills can occur, the pond may have a smell, and be unsightly. This should be a temporary occurrence.
Treatments must be done with caution as taking too much out can cause an oxygen depletion.
